Community Service Projects Dominican Republic I

Dominican Republic community service projects completed in partnership with Paconi in the community of Naranjo.

Dominican Republic community service projects
  • Worked with community members to complete various projects at the Paconi Preschool:
    • Used pickaxes, shovels, buckets and wheelbarrows to transport 98 cubic meters of dirt into a classroom for the foundation.
    • Prepared and painted wood for the roofs of 2 large classrooms.
    • Used shovels and pickaxes to prepare concrete by mixing cement, water and sand.
    • Used planas, flotas and cubos to apply concrete mixture to 2 large classroom walls; an area totaling 147 square meters.
    • Dug a 10-meter trench and filled it with cement for the foundation of the front wall of the preschool.

  • Completed a 3-week day camp at the preschool of Naranjo, where 20 kids attended English, art and physical education classes.

 

  • Completed a 1-by-2-meter mural for the preschool, featuring memories of VISIONS volunteers’ time in the DR.
