Once Wasn't Enough: Alumni Davidson Miner Is Returning for Another Summer with VISIONS

How one summer of culture, community, and connection inspired a return to the Blackfeet program.

Four smiling teens stand close together in front of a small waterfall and lush green forest, wearing casual outdoor clothes and baseball caps. It appears to be a hiking trip in nature.

1. What made you decide to come back to VISIONS?

I wanted to come back to VISIONS because I really enjoyed my first experience. I felt that I made an impact on the community, and I’m looking forward to making a positive difference!

A group of six young people sits in a circle on grass with notebooks, talking and smiling. Rolling hills and mountains are visible in the background under a cloudy sky. A dog’s ears appear at the bottom of the image.

2. What’s one moment from last summer that best shows what VISIONS is like?

Through VISIONS, I learned that I am capable of more than I think. I gained new skills I once believed were beyond me, but VISIONS showed me that I could do them.

Two smiling people hold up fried dough covered in butter on checkered paper in front of a bright red food truck. One wears a gray cap; the other wears glasses and pigtails. Both hold water bottles.

3. When did you feel the most connected, challenged, or alive last summer?

Last summer, while helping run the spay and neuter clinic, I felt a deep connection to the Reservation community. Interacting with so many people gave me a better understanding of the community I was serving!

A person in glasses and red plaid pants sits on a grassy hill at sunset, looking back at the camera. The background shows open fields, a pond, scattered buildings, and distant mountains under a colorful sky.
