Five Ways Students Can Reduce Stress Through Summer Programs

Summer is a time to regroup after the school year, reflect on lessons learned, and continue growing. A summer volunteer program is the perfect complement.

Summer is a time for exploration and personal growth, but amidst the pressures of academic performance, it’s good to consider how students can rejuvenate. At VISIONS Service Adventures, we prioritize the holistic well-being of students and offer volunteer opportunities for high schoolers that promote mental and emotional wellness. Here are five ways our programs help students reduce stress and foster personal growth:

Unplug & Drop Social Media: In today’s digital age, constant connectivity contributes to stress and anxiety. Our programs are tech-fee, so students can disconnect from the digital world and immerse themselves in real-life experiences. By taking a break from technology, teens can focus on meaningful connections with other participants and community members.

Look Outside of Themselves: Through community service projects and teen volunteer work, students gain perspective and develop empathy by contributing to causes larger than themselves. This shift in focus can alleviate stress and foster a sense of purpose and fulfillment as kids witness the positive impact they can have on others

Engage in Physical Labor: Engaging in physical labor during community service projects provides students with an outlet for stress while promoting physical health and well-being. Working together as a team to accomplish shared goals can also strengthen bonds and foster a sense of camaraderie and support among participants.

Try New Things / Novelty: VISIONS programs offer high school students the opportunity to step out of their comfort zones and try new activities and experiences. Embracing novelty stimulates the mind, boosts confidence, and reduces stress by breaking up routine and monotony. By pushing their boundaries and embracing new challenges, teens discover untapped potential and develop resilience in the face of adversity.

Connect with Nature: Spending time outdoors and connecting with nature has been proven to reduce stress and promote mental health. Our programs take students to stunning natural environments where they can unwind, recharge and find solace in the beauty of the world around them. Whether it’s hiking through scenic landscapes or engaging in environmental conservation efforts, connecting with nature allows students to rejuvenate their minds and spirits.

By participating in VISIONS Service Adventures, students not only contribute to meaningful causes but also gain invaluable tools for managing stress and navigating life’s challenges. Our programs offer a unique blend of service, adventure and personal growth opportunities that empower students to thrive.

We invite you to explore our summer programs and discover how we can make the most of kids’ summer, both mentally and emotionally. Join us in providing transformative experiences that promote holistic well-being and prepare students for success in all aspects of life.
