What does your life look like now?
I’m a junior in high school. I’m in swim season, and spend most of my time looking forward to warmer weather.
What is it like to walk in your shoes every day?
I always like to be doing something. Whether that’s playing sports, working or just visiting friends, I like to make everything interesting.
What does the word community mean to you?
The first thing that comes to mind is “together.” It’s a group effort – it’s about giving and taking, and looking out for one another no matter the challenge.
The most memorable thing for me was how close we all became in such a short time and how hard the goodbyes were.
What did the VISIONS experience teach you about yourself?
The VISIONS experience really taught me how to be independent. It’s a huge thing to dive into a new culture for two weeks without knowing anyone, but I’m so glad I did it.
Something that makes me hopeful for the future is knowing that even though the US and Peru were so different, we could still relate to the locals through shared passions and humor. It’s nice to be reminded that we all share the same humanity.
What do you feel is one of your greatest strengths that you have to offer the world?
I think my empathetic personality is one of my greatest strengths, I always care about other people and how they feel.
What would you like to be remembered for?
I would like to be remembered as someone who treated everyone with kindness.
What would you like to say to other members of the VISIONS community?
I want to thank the leaders and all the participants of every program for making these experiences so special, and if you’re someone considering a VISIONS program I encourage you to join the community!
