Working with children in our host communities is often one of the most rewarding parts of VISIONS programs. Driven by powerful inquisitiveness, chidren bypass language and cultural barriers to get to the objects of their curiosity, and teenagers are compellingly curious objects to these little children.
Gussie Love was a devoted member of the VISIONS community for the last decade. He passed away yesterday, one month shy of his 18th birthday. When adopting Gussie from the local Humane Society ten years ago, his paperwork identified him as a potential menace. I am so grateful that he was put up for adoption and became part of my life.
VISIONS has a long history of female leadership. We also honor the many women who have directed our programs, female project partners who make a difference in their communities, and thousands of girls who have attended programs and worked hard while honing leadership skills.
VISIONS has always run tech-free summer programs for high school students (no cell phones or other electronic gadgets other than 30 minutes set aside once a week to connect with home).
As of September, we’ve purchased OUR VERY OWN VISIONS FARM, a sprawling historic property nestled at the base of Montana’s Bridger Mountains. This farm will be the base for all our Montana Gap programs and Teen Summer Farm programs moving forward

30 adventurous teens worked on sustainable farming and regenerative ranching activities, permaculture, volunteering at the Food Bank, packaging books for distribution to Montana reservations, and site preparations at a local cohousing neighborhood.
