1. What inspired you to join VISIONS?
I met Katherine [Executive Director of VISIONS] and her adorable pup, Stevie, while hiking in Bozeman, and we quickly started talking about our shared passion for community and the environment. She encouraged me to check out VISIONS, and I was immediately drawn in. I’m so excited to be part of a team that creates a positive impact on both the environment and the community while having fun doing it!
2. What experiences have shaped your passion for community service and youth development?
Growing up, I had the opportunity to be part of many positive communities that pushed me outside of my comfort zone in the best way possible. Experiences such as volunteering at Adam’s Camp, working with campers with disabilities, participating in the Boulder County Youth Corps, and volunteering at local events have shown me the importance of encouraging and supportive environments. Studying Environmental Science, along with spending time working and traveling outdoors, has reinforced the value of strong community support. I’m so excited to work with VISIONS and help create a positive environment where we can all connect more deeply with each other, the community, and nature.
3. What is your favorite achievement?
Having the opportunity to live abroad in Austria was both a challenging and rewarding experience that allowed me to connect with people from around the world and immerse myself in a different way of life. However, I think my favorite achievement is waking up each day with positivity, curiosity, and excitement for what’s to come.
4. What is your favorite place you’ve traveled?
Copenhagen!
5. What is the best advice you’ve received?
“One step at a time.” I rely on this phrase every day because looking at everything that needs to get done can feel overwhelming. Focusing on one thing at a time makes even the biggest challenges feel manageable… whether that’s life or just a really hard hike.
6. What do you hope to accomplish this summer?
I’m hoping to grow and learn more while becoming immersed in a new community, all while serving, supporting, and making meaningful connections.
7. What are you most excited about this summer?
I’m so excited to meet new people, experience new adventures, and explore nature’s playground this summer!
If you had to give one piece of advice or words of encouragement to someone on their first VISIONS experience, what would it be?
Yesterday was history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present.
