Georgia Calimeres

Montana Blackfeet Director

Born to immigrant parents and raised in Northeastern Pennsylvania, Georgia Calimeres learned the value of cross-cultural immersion and multilingualism from a young age. Some of her earliest memories include visiting her parents’ home countries of Greece and Albania.

Georgia holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies with minors in Spanish and Sustainability from Eckerd College, and a master’s degree in International Development from American University. She is fluent in Spanish and Greek and is currently learning French. Her first exposure to the power of experiential education came during a university semester study-abroad program in Costa Rica, where she lived in full immersion with a host family and conducted environmental field research. Since then, she has worked extensively in Colombia, Kenya, and Puerto Rico, engaging in community development and poverty alleviation projects.

Georgia is a three-time VISIONS leader and director in the Dominican Republic, where she helped launch the new program site in Cotuí, in the central Cibao region. She is excited to return to VISIONS this summer in Montana to work alongside the Blackfeet Indigenous community and engage in meaningful service.

Outside of VISIONS, Georgia is a humanitarian aid worker and international development practitioner based in Washington, DC. She also works part-time as a medical Spanish interpreter and end-of-life doula. In her free time, she enjoys cycling, reading, hiking, and traveling.
