1. What inspired you to join VISIONS?

I was inspired to join VISIONS because I believe in the power of service to create real connection and growth—not just for the communities we work with, but for the students, too. VISIONS stood out to me because it’s not just about helping—it’s about learning, living, and growing together. The cultural immersion, long-term community relationships, and meaningful service projects really aligned with my values.

2. What experiences have shaped your passion for community service and youth development?

Being part of the youth myself, I’ve had the chance to work with organizations that focus on helping children and families in vulnerable communities. Through those experiences, I saw firsthand how important it is to show up consistently, listen with empathy, and be part of something that brings hope and change to people’s lives. Whether it was organizing activities for kids, supporting educational programs, or helping distribute resources, I realized how powerful service can be—not just for those we help, but for our own growth, too. That’s what really sparked my passion and continues to drive me.

3. What is your favorite achievement?

My favorite achievement isn’t tied to one big moment—it’s in the small, meaningful ones. It’s when someone shares how a simple action or kind word made a real difference in their life, whether it shifted their mindset or helped meet a basic need. Those stories remind me that even the smallest efforts can create lasting impact. That’s what makes the work so special to me.

4. What is your favorite place you’ve traveled?

I have just traveled outside to NY and did not liked it at all but my favorite places are right here in the Dominican Republic. I’ve always been drawn to the beauty of the South, but the North—specifically Puerto Plata and Santiago—holds a special place in my heart. That’s where my family’s from, and it’s filled with memories that have shaped who I am. The connection to my roots makes it all the more meaningful.

5. What is the best advice you’ve received?

“Be where your feet are.” It’s a simple reminder to stay present and grounded, especially when things get hectic. It’s easy to get caught up in the ‘what’s next’—but real connection and growth happen in the now.

6. What do you hope to accomplish this summer?

I want every student to leave with a deeper understanding of the world, their place in it, and what they’re capable of. My goal is to create a space where everyone feels valued, challenged, and connected—to the work, to the community, and to each other.

7. What are you most excited about this summer?

I’m most excited to see the transformation. Watching teens go from unsure and hesitant to confident and purpose-driven is powerful. I also love the spontaneity—those unforgettable moments you can’t plan, like dancing and joking around or a late-night group reflection that hits deep.

8. If you had to give one piece of advice or words of encouragement to someone on their first VISIONS experience, what would it be?

Lean in. It might feel unfamiliar or uncomfortable at first, but that’s where the magic is. Be open, be curious, be present. Trust the process, and trust yourself. You’ll leave with way more than you came for.
