At VISIONS, we’ve always believed in the transformative power of service and intercultural connection. Today, we’re thrilled to spotlight one of our leader alumni whose journey exemplifies this spirit: Anni Lindenberg Knox.

Anni’s career in education began with VISIONS in 2003, working with high school students on our community service programs for teens. From Costa Rica to Ecuador, Montana and the Dominican Republic, Anni’s dedication to fostering meaningful experiences left a lasting impression on those she worked with—and helped shape the path she would follow.

After earning a Master of Education in Multicultural Secondary Urban Education from UC Berkeley, Anni continued her work with teens, and taught English at South San Francisco High. She later earned a Master’s in Language and Literacy Studies and another in Educational Leadership and Policy from UT Austin. Her roles in Austin have included Program Coordinator at Breakthrough Central Texas, teacher at The Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders, and assistant principal at Russell Lee Elementary.

Throughout her career, Anni has championed culturally relevant teaching and social-emotional learning, presenting at conferences, co-authoring journal articles, and leading professional development for educators. In 2020, her dedication earned her the prestigious Young Women’s Preparatory Network Educator of Excellence Award.

In 2024, Anni came full circle, returning to the classroom at the Ann Richards School to teach 11th-grade AP English Language and Composition. She describes this return as a homecoming to what she loves most: teaching and supporting her students in discovering their skills and passions.

For Anni, VISIONS was more than just a starting point—it was a transformative experience that shaped her career and commitment to education and service. “VISIONS was pivotal,” she reflects. “It fostered my love for teaching and showed me the impact of meaningful community engagement.”

We’re so proud to have been part of Anni’s journey and grateful for the work she continues to do in education. Thank you, Anni, for embodying the values of service, leadership, and connection that VISIONS holds dear!
