Katy grew up in New Hampshire surrounded by dogs, trees, and her loving family. Realizing how lucky she was early on, she was determined to get out into the world and hoped to find a way to better it. She studied International Affairs and Human Services at Northeastern University, focusing on social work and development through sustainable models. During her time in college, she spent a year working for nonprofits in Buenos Aires, Argentina, as well as Phnom Penh, Cambodia, where she became enamored with living abroad and working with kids of all ages.
After graduation, Katy traveled and volunteered in Puerto Rico and Costa Rica, spending quality time with nature and settling into the Spanish language. The following summer, she reconnected with VISIONS and served as a leader for the program in Peru, where she had previously been a participant. In the time since, she has been working in Ecuador for a public health organization, primarily working with college students and facilitating learning experiences in the field. When she isn’t working, Katy can be found doing yoga or making new animal friends. She is excited to return to Urubamba, Peru, for the third time with VISIONS, this time to co-direct the program with Anna Lampe!
