Kate spent her childhood in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, climbing trees and exploring nearby creeks. After high school, she moved to Santa Barbara to begin a degree in Environmental Studies. Here she discovered her love for outdoor education and decided to take some time off from school.
After a year and a half of traveling, learning and working, Kate returned to school in Gunnison, Colorado, to pursue a degree in Recreation and Outdoor Education with an emphasis in Environmental Education. Along with being a full-time student, Kate works for her school’s outdoor program, Wilderness Pursuits. You can find her in the rental shop during weekdays and in the field working, rock climbing, ice climbing and backpacking on the weekends!
Kate came to VISIONS as a participant in both the BVI (2014) and Cambodia (2015) programs. Her experience in these programs sparked an interest in travel and a passion for experiential education. Kate returned to the VISIONS team last summer as a leader for the Northern Cheyenne program and is stoked to be co-directing the Alaska program with Lauren Gette-King this summer!
